About us
Uncommon Minds creates inclusive communities by sharing the stories of people with learning differences—celebrating how they’ve redefined success on their own terms.
Our story
In late 2021, two good friends met for coffee and discovered we’d been seeing the same thing in our work—more children and working adults with invisible learning differences like autism, ADHD, and dyslexia.
Greater awareness, better school support, therapy options, and inclusive hiring may have brought these differences into the open. Yet deep-seated biases, misconceptions, and narrow definitions of success still hold many back.
Too often, people hide their learning differences for fear of stigma. Parents face not just the challenges of their child’s needs, but also the weight of societal judgement.
We believe we can—and must—do better as a community. Over that coffee, Uncommon Minds was born: to inspire hope, break barriers, and celebrate strengths, one story at a time.
Everyday individuals from all walks of life have generously shared their lived experiences with us.
Read their stories. Understand their differences. See how neurodiversity can be a strength.
Our mission
We aim to shift the conversation around learning differences—from seeing deficits to recognising possibilities—through three focus areas:
1. Inspire hope
Show that individuals with learning differences can lead meaningful, fulfilling lives and make valuable contributions to our community.
2. Break barriers
Challenge stigma, stereotypes, discrimination, and low expectations to create equal opportunities for all.
3. Celebrate strengths
Connect individuals with learning differences from all walks of life to serve as role models—broadening how we define strengths and success.
Our vision
“We envision a world that celebrates neurodiversity as a source of strength—unlocking potential, enriching workplaces, and strengthening communities through true inclusion.”
Best,
Vivien & PT
